Godzilla Head at Hotel Gracery in Shinjuku, Tokyo - Review

One of the must-see in Tokyo for the kids is definitely the large Godzilla Head on the top floor of Hotel Gracery in Shinjuku. There is mix information about access to Godzilla Head as some say it’s only for hotel guests but given it has good signage and we were not asked once if we were guests, tells me that it is a common thing for tourists to do.

You will find the Godzilla head in the area of Shinjuku, get off the train and head towards the area where you will see the famous Shinjuku billboard, we saw a cat move on the screen it looked very real! Close by, you will find the Hotel Gracery with cinema, you won’t miss the Godzilla head on top of the building!

Head to the front of Hotel Gracery, you will see signs with Godzilla head, you can’t access the Godzilla head from the cinema area, however apparently there is a small statue up there but we didn’t check.

We took the lifts and followed the signage to the top floor where there was a Godzilla statue and a tripod where you can put your phone for a selfie with Godzilla. You will also find posters showing all the movies during the years.

Pass the lobby (where you will find guests checking in) but also a bit of Godzilla merch, pass the café (where you can sit and have a drink if you wish) and outside on the balcony, you will find the impressive giant head of Godzilla, rub his belly for some growling sounds and make sure you take a photo as souvenir. You can also see the view of Shinjuku from up there too.

If you are wanting that extra Godzilla experience, the Hotel Gracery does have a special Godzilla Room with all the sounds and effects and view of the Godzilla head! Check it out here if you wish to make a booking, I am assuming well in advance. When I looked at their standard rooms, the only ones available were very small and not connecting.

If your kids are into Godzilla, there is a Godzilla statue near Tokyo Midtown Hibiya (which is a great shopping center with clothes and food etc.). the statue isn’t very big but good for a cute photo opp.
