Powerhouse Castle Hill presents a free day of demonstrations, workshops, tours, drop-in activities and fun for people of all ages, inspired by Digital Technology.

  • Useful Objects: Digital Drawing with artist Cameron Stead 10am–3.30pm
    In this drop-in workshop you will create a digital drawing of new or reimagined useful objects that could improve your everyday activities or specific tasks.

  • What is AI with Neuranext 10am–12.30pm & 1–3.30pm
    Neuranext visits schools to provide students with knowledge and skills to understand the technology of Artificial Intelligence, to boost their AI literacy. Live AIdemonstrations, such as self-driving cars, computer vision and robots', show the technology in actionempoweringstudentsto become participants inthe AIworld of tomorrow.

  • Robotics with RoboThink 10am–3.30pm
    Learn and play with basic computer codes that can make robot models do amazing things at the Robothink learning booth.

  • Coding with Micro:Bit 10am–3.30pm
    The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that introduces physical computing and coding using a block like interface. It is a great tool for learning the basics of coding while having fun with robotics.

  • Flipbook Animation 10am–3.30pm
    Learn the basics of early 2D animation using Post-it notes. Draw a story, image by image, then watch your animation by flipping through the images. Then translate your storydigitall using an iPad.

  • Mystery Object Challenge 11.30am and2.30pm 
    Calling all budding historians, archaeologists and those with curious minds. Drop-in and test your sleuthing skills in this familyfriendly activity to see if you can identifysome historic mystery objects.

  • Mars Rover 1.30pm 
    Meet our quarter-scale Mars Rover Curiosity. Rovers specialise in exploring the red planet to collect samples and images. Hosts will be available to answer questions and talk about autonomous robotics. 

  • Discovery Walkthrough: What's that Sound? 11am, 1pm and 3pm
    Some sounds provide help, such as alarms and sirens. Others we choose to hear because they enrich our lives, such as the noises made by gaming consoles, clocks, and of course, musical instruments. Be taken on a tour of the many sounds surrounding us.
