Zoos Victoria Summer School Holidays

Head to Zoos Victoria's zoos this summer for some school holiday fun!

First up, Hippo Splash at Werribee Open Range Zoo which will run from Saturday 19th December to Thursday 24th March. Little ones can cool off with a bigger and better water play zone at Hippo Splash which will sport wooden channels, pumps, weirs, fountains and water jets! 

They can also spot the hippos on the beach, listen to the daily Hippo Keeper talk and relax into a hammock or deck chairs under the cool shade of thatched umbrellas or play with buckets, spades and sieves.

Where Eagles Fly is another program which will be running these holidays at the Healesville Sanctuary from Saturday 19th December to Thursday 24th March.

Packed with bird-themed activities and suitable for all ages, visitors will enjoy thrilling close encounters with their favourite birds and get up close to magnificent birds of prey and new guest stars parrots and lorikeets and discover the Zoo Keeper’s training secrets at the daily Spirits of the Sky presentation at 12.00pm and 2.30pm

Little ones can also enjoy Creek Play at Badger Creek where they can cool down or take part in fun Emu egg and spoon races.

Seal Lifesavers will be hitting Melbourne Zoo this summer as the historic Carousel Park transforms into a pop-up beach right in the heart of the city from Saturday 19th December to Thursday 24th March! Little ones can feel the sand between their toes and relax on the beach with chairs and umbrellas.

They can also enjoy beach-themed activities in Keeper Kids from 12pm or grab a seat at the daily seal show at 11.30am or at the extra show at 1pm on weekends during January.

Every Saturday night from Saturday 9th January to Saturday 27th February 2016, Werribee Open Range Zoo will stay open after sunset to showcase an amazing line-up of African bands taking to the stage at Rhythm of Africa. The zoo will come to life after 4.30pm with special performances for the kids’, face-painting, drumming workshops and African inspired food, before the headline act commences at 5.30pm.

And last but not least, watch the sun set and the Zoo Twilights stage light up every Friday and Saturday fromFriday 29th January – Saturday 12th March as Melbourne Zoo welcomes a selection of local and international artists to the stage for the 2016 summer music concerts.
