Celebrate Lunar New Year with the whole family at the Immigration Museum! Enjoy free performances of traditional Chinese music and dance, make games and crafts from Korea and Vietnam, and learn the ancient art of paper cutting. 

Lunar New Year is one of the largest festivals for many Asian cultures and is traditionally celebrated between the new moon and the first full moon of the year.

This Lunar New Year, immerse yourself in an inclusive and joyous environment that celebrates the diversity and richness of Lunar New Year traditions from China, Korea, and Vietnam. This event is open to all, and we encourage you to bring friends and family to join in the festivities!

Lunar New Year Kid-Friendly activities include:

  • Li Xi - 10AM TO 5PM | DISCOVERY CENTRE | FREE FAMILY ACTIVITY

    Create your own ‘lucky money’ red envelope, an important part of Vietnamese New Year traditions. Fill it with good wishes and give it to your loved ones!

  • Yut Nori - 10AM TO 5PM | DISCOVERY CENTRE | FREE FAMILY ACTIVITY

    Design your own version of a traditional board game played during Korean New Year. Then, test your skills in a family vs family showdown of strategy and luck.

  • Guzheng and Fan Dance Performance - 10AM AND 11:15AM | ATRIUM | FREE PERFORMANCE

    Hear the enchanting melodies of this Chinese instrument and witness a graceful fan dance, performed by talented duo QiQi and Madison Lu.

  • Chinese Paper Cutting with Sirui Yang - 12 NOON TO 1:30PM | EDUCATION CENTRE | $8 PER PERSON

    Learn about one of China’s most popular and intricate folk arts and create your own decoration to bring you fortune and good blessings.
